RENE
(they/them)RENE is an independent artist from Singapore.
Meaningful and authentic lyrics, rich vocals, and catchy guitar lines are what create their signature sound. Their music is influenced by pop, indie, and rock genres, and a mix of artists such as Phoebe Bridgers, Neck Deep, and beabadoobee. Their song-writing encompasses themes such as societal commentary, self-reflection, and personal relationships. Empathy and introspection are the most important values to them as an artist.
The release of their single “Apocalypse!!!” in April followed the announcement of RENE as a Spotify RADAR 2025 artist. Their singles “Then There’s You” (with lewloh), “Same For Me” and “Overdue” have received Spotify support on key playlists such as nine New Music Friday playlists across Asia (including Korea, Philippines, Indonesia), poses, and .ORG, and have landed cover placements on .ORG, Haze, Rising 65, and Love Lives.
RENE has graced the stage as a guest artist for regional and international acts including Canadian artist elijah woods at the Singapore leg of his ‘Give Me The Sunlight!’ tour, Filipino artist Shanne Dandan’s ‘Kung Iyong Mamarapatin’ Tour in Bulacan, Philippines, Indonesian artist VVYND, as well as US-based hongjoin.
In 2023, RENE released their second EP ‘Slipped Through My Fingers’. They co-produced the EP with Daryl Hor (Sun Cell, Royal Estate) and Indonesia-based Gilang Wisnandar (HNATA, PRYVT). They also released the music video for their single “Rule The World” in June to commemorate Pride month, working with esteemed photographer and director Lenne Chai (W Magazine, Vogue, Entertainment Weekly, Billboard) on the butt-kicking short film.
In July 2023, RENE released an acoustic version of their collaborative track “we’re gonna die anyway!!!” with Singapore-based singer-songwriter Marian Carmel, a year on since the initial release of the song in celebration of Pride. In September 2023, they released a collaboration “we grew up together” with US-based artist hongjoin. RENE released their debut EP 'Something To Hide', in April 2021, a collection of 5 tracks that set RENE on a path towards finding their niche as a musician and songwriter – blending different genres and into a sound that best represents the artist they are.
RENE embarked on the Parachuting Off The Moon Tour in 2025 alongside Filipino artist barb. (Leanne Mamonong, Leanne & Naara). They had also gone on The Lilypad Tour in June 2024 with fellow independent artists lewloh and Marian Carmel, where they brought their music to audiences in Singapore, Taiwan, and The Philippines.
